Yep, that's me. My name is Rob Hanssen and I was born in Meijel some time ago; to be exact in 1974. I got my highschool education at the Bouwens van der Boye college in Panningen, where I graduated from the VWO in 1992. After graduation I went to the Eindhoven University of Technology to study Chemical Engineering. For my graduation I worked on heterogenization of homogeneous liquid phase oxidation catalysts. This work was done in cooperation with the subgroups Zeolites and Silicon Catalysis in the research group SKA. On the 24th of September of 1997 I graduated cum laude. Then I worked for a month on the innovation of the education at the TUE, where computers are introduced in the first-year curriculum. My job concerned the use of molecular modelling software and the use of the internet as a educational tool. . From the first of November 1997 until the 31th of January 2002 I worked as a Ph.D student in organometallic chemistry and catalysis at the Eindhoven University of Technology. A description of my work can be found at the WWW site of the silicon catalysis group. I defended my thesis op the 26th of May 2003. After my defense I worked for 3 months as researcher in the group of Dieter Vogt doing custom synthesis. As of September 1st 2003, I started working for Milliken Chemical Europe as a researcher. On June 25 2003, I married my present-day wife, Joyce. We currently live in Boiling Springs, SC and I work at the headquarters of Milliken & Co as senior research chemist. Our son Alexander was born on January 6, 2009. | |||||
